Southport announces dates of NC 4th of July Festival

SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — The North Carolina 4th of July Festival Board is in the process of planning the 2026 festival while focusing on the 250th anniversary of the country’s independence.
The festival is set to kick off on Friday, June 26 and run through Saturday, July 4 with events planned in both Southport and Oak Island.
“We have dozens of people putting countless hours into making this year a vibrant and amazing celebration of America’s 250th. We’ve been strategizing and planning since late last summer,” Festival Chairman, Hugh Fosbury said.
Here are some of the events for this year’s festival:
- Fireman’s Competition
- Naturalization Ceremony
- Arts and Crafts on Bay Street
- Kid’s Zone at Taylor Field
- Recognition of veterans
- Horse show
- Musical groups
- Food vendors
- 5K-1 Mile run
- Regional Art Show
- Military Exhibits
- Petting Zoo
- Pro-wrestling matches
- Flotilla
- World’s Largest Ice Cream Sundae
- Scholarship Pageant
