Southport gears up for another 4th of July celebration


SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — For more than 200 years, a small community has celebrated our nation’s independence in a big way. This year is no different.

The NC 4th of July Festival in Southport happens over the span of multiple days with events for the entire family.

A few notable events include the Firefighter’s Freedom Competition tomorrow from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. (115 E. Nash Street), the 9/11 Never Forget Memorial Mobile Exhibit tomorrow and Sunday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (115 E. Nash Street), the Salute to Veterans on Monday at 6 p.m. (Southport Community Building) and the Naturalization Ceremony on Tuesday at 4 p.m. (Fort Johnston Southport Museum & Visitor Center Lawn).

On the morning of Independence Day, Southport kicks off the day with a parade through downtown at 11 a.m. Events and activities run all day and the celebration ends with fireworks at 9 p.m. over the Southport waterfront.

There will also be food, concerts, an arts and crafts show, a car show and more!
