Southport girl makes a wish to go to Disney

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — One little girl’s dream to go to Disney is coming true thanks to Live Oaks Bank, who sponsored the trip.

Six-year-old Dacey Houghtaling has been fighting Congenital Heart Disease since birth. Her mother says it has been a rough road trying to take care of her child while providing her with a normal childhood the last six years.

Friday the bank hosted a send-off party for Dacey, who will make the trip with her parents and two sisters September 18th.

Dacey’s mother says she is extremely grateful to Make-A-Wish for providing her daughter an opportunity she was not able to give her.

“It’s the thrill of a lifetime right now. Just to see my kid happy and something that she could get to possibly do otherwise. Make-A-Wish has definitely been a God-sent,” Gretchen Houghtaling said.

Dacey said she can not wait to meet Tinkerbell.
