Southport Police investigating after gunshot wound victim arrives at fire department

SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — UPDATE: 8:33AM- “This is still an active investigation, the actual location of the crime was located just outside the city limits on River Rd.  SPD and BCSO Units cleared the scene just after midnight.  BCSO is primary on the investigation and will send out any future updates.  At last check the victim was stable at New Hanover.  Anyone with information should call 911,” said Police Chief Todd Corning on regarding the incident Saturday morning.

(Friday 10:18 pm) Southport Police are investigating after someone was shot.

Southport Police Chief Todd Coring said someone with a gunshot wound was driven to the Southport Fire Department around 9:30 p.m. Friday night.

Coring said crews at the fire department immediately started rendering aid.

The person with the gunshot wound is being transported to Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
