Southport Police release app aimed at connecting with residents, visitors

SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — The Southport Police Department has announced the release of a custom smartphone application designed to connect them with the community they serve.
The app will be a new way for the police department to communicate important information with Southport residents and visitors, providing updates quickly and efficiently to anyone with a smartphone.
“Our Police Department is now maximizing one of the most used forms of communication in America, the smartphone, as a tool to keep you updated and informed,” Chief Todd Coring said. “I feel this is another tool in our toolbox to increase citizen engagement, build awareness, provide transparency, and enhance communications.”
The Southport Police Department app is available for download for free in the App Store and Google Play.
