Southport Trinity United Methodist Church announces Easter Egg Hunt for children of all abilities

SOUTHPORT, N.C. (WWAY) — Southport Trinity United Methodist Church (Trinity UMC) is hosting their annual Easter egg hunt for the community.
Trinity is continuing to offer their sensory Easter egg hunt for children of all abilities who have special needs and differing abilities.
Families with special needs children will be able to enjoy egg hunting activities and learning stations centered around the five senses.
The free event starts April 1 at 5:00 p.m. with a picnic dinner of hot dogs, assorted chips, and drinks in the grass field behind Trinity.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket to sit on during the picnic dinner. Families and children with special needs are invited to enjoy a picnic dinner inside Trinity Murrow Hall at 5:00 p.m.
Sonia Reaves, the director of family ministries at Trinity shared, “We were so excited about the success of last year’s event and want to bring this Easter egg hunt opportunity to even more families in our community this year! Not all children have been able to participate in Easter egg hunts before because they were too hectic and caused sensory overload for children with special needs. We want children of all abilities to be able to know and celebrate the love of Jesus through Easter and enjoy the tradition of an Easter egg hunt.”
Egg hunting activities and Easter learning stations centered around the five senses for children with special needs will begin at 6:00 p.m. and take place inside Murrow Hall. There will be various sensory bins for hunting Easter eggs along with other sensory safe activities. The outside Easter egg hunt will also begin at 6:00 p.m. in Franklin Square Park.
In case of inclement or hazardous weather, the outside picnic dinner and egg hunt will be moved inside to the upstairs classrooms of Murrow Hall at Trinity.
Preregistration is required.
