Southport Trinity United Methodist Church hosting Deep Roots Festival

SOUTHPORT, NC  (WWAY) — Southport Trinity United Methodist Church announces the Deep Roots Festival on Sunday, September 7.

This festival, for people of all ages, will consist of an outdoor worship service (9:30 a.m.) in Franklin Square Park and a ministry education fair, along with food, a bounce house, and children’s games (10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) in the lawn next to the church’s sanctuary.

The Deep Roots ministry fair, beginning at 10:30 a.m., will feature booths with representatives from church of groups sharing the work they do and how others can join in Christian formation opportunities, service, community outreach, caring ministries, and more. Tents and tables will be located on the grass next to Southport Trinity UMC’s main building on 209 E. Nash Street.

The festival will start with an outdoor worship service at 9:30 a.m. with Rev. Mitzi Johnson preaching and the combined contemporary worship team and sanctuary choir leading music through modern arrangements of well-loved hymns. Attendees should bring a chair. Golf-cart shuttles will run between the Whittler’s Bench near the waterfront on Bay Street, Southport Coffee on Moore Street, Taylor Field at 409 Nash Street, the corner of E. Leonard and Howe Street, and Franklin Square Park beginning at 8:45 a.m.
