Special needs guests enjoy VIP experience at Night to Shine Prom

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Hundreds of people enjoyed a special evening at the prom in Wilmington.

Lifepoint Church held its 8th annual “Night to Shine Prom” at Port City Community Church.

Night to Shine is a worldwide event sponsored by former NFL player Tim Tebow and his foundation.

More than 450 people with special needs dressed up for the event, where they enjoyed a full VIP experience.

Guests could get their hair and make-up done, walk down the red carpet, and take part in karaoke, cornhole, and even limousine rides.

Lifepoint Church outreach director Erin Howell said it’s great to know they’re making the night special for all of their guests.

“Every year just watching some of the same guests show up, excited for the friends that they’ve made in years past, to see them again,” Howell said. “And it just, its an honor honestly to be a part of it, to feel like we’re a small part of making their night special.”

In addition to the guests, more than 1,000 people volunteered for the event, making it Lifepoint’s largest prom ever.
