LELAND, N.C. (WWAY) – The Laney baseball team kept pace in the Mideastern Conference standings following a 6-2 road win against North Brunswick on Friday.

J.B. Brooks wasted no time getting the Bucs on the board in the top of the 1st. A line drive to center gave Jack Holliman enough time to score from second to break the ice. Brooks would later score on a bloop single from Evan Skobel.

The Scorpions would respond in the bottom of the frame with an RBI fielder’s choice to short that brought home Jonah Campbell.

Laney then scored another pair of runs in the 2nd inning. The latter of which was a sac fly off of Brooks’ bat that Owen Gore was able to tag up and score on.

Starting pitcher Jason Sproull went one out shy of a complete game, picking up 11 strikeouts along the way for Laney.
