Nine-year-old boy donating toys to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for his birthday

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — Most of us ask for birthday gifts, but not this soon to be nine year old. Instead he wants to give gifts to others.

At only eight-years-old, Brayden Suggs has been asking to go deliver toys to sick children at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for his birthday.

He was inspired by his favorite movie, The Heart of Christmas.

“Ever since I watched that movie I’ve been wanting all year, and this year my my momma asked me, do I want to go on a cruise and I said no I want to go to St Jude, ” Brayden said.

After months of collecting donations and planning a trip is set for Brayden and his family to go deliver all of their gifts they collected in August.

“I’m very excited. I am mostly looking forward to giving the toys to St. Jude,” Brayden said.

Brayden says he has had overwhelming amount of support, but his biggest encouragement has been from his mom.

“I’m excited cause I’m proud of him, it’s very rare that they have a child that wants to do something like this,” Brayden’s mother, Karen Hardy said.

They have boxes and boxes filled with toys that will soon be driven hundreds of miles to share a smile to young boys and girls.

“I want to do this every year,” Brayden said.
