LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick Regional Water & Sewer H2GO has issued a Stage 1 Water Conservation Alert.

A Stage 1 Water Conservation Alert is triggered when water demands reach 80% of the system capacity over a 7-day rolling average. Excessive customer irrigation over the past several weeks has nearly doubled demand on the water system, according to a press release.

The statement says the purpose of this Alert is to maintain and protect the public health, safety, and welfare of H2GO residents by establishing short and long-term conservation strategies to effectively manage H2GO’s water resource supplies.

Until further notice, spray irrigation is restricted to no more than two days per week: Even numbered property addresses should limit irrigation to
Wednesdays and Sundays; odd numbered property addresses should limit irrigation to Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Irrigation customers are encouraged to install rain and soil moisture sensors on irrigation controls to reduce unnecessary irrigation.
