Starters rest in 3rd as Hoggard dominates North Brunswick

LELAND, N.C. (WWAY) — Plenty of Vikings saw the floor on Thursday as Hoggard volleyball picked up a sweep at North Brunswick.
The set scores were 25-7, 25-9, 25-16.
After dominating the first two sets, Hoggard opted to rest the majority of their starters and regular players.
That opened the door freshmen such as Natalie Byrd and Nell O’Connor to get some playing time.
Leading them on the floor in the 3rd was senior Payton Jones, who got the kill for match point to keep the Vikings undefeated in conference play.
“We do need some more competition,” Jones said. “We have been playing down to our level, so we need to start playing up. Being ready for anything that may come at us. Everybody who does get playing time was really excited for them. Stayed on the bench cheering. Everybody who didn’t get to play was ready when they came in.”
