‘Stomp the Park’ seeks to unify the community

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — People in Wilmington gathered Sunday in hopes to unite the community through art and music.

It’s part of the Stomp the Park concert program, which seeks to end injustices in our community. While tickets are free, organizers were taking donations for the local non-profit Kids Making It, that teaches woodworking to at-risk youth in the area.

Participants at Stomp the Park enjoyed live music and learning about various non-profits in Wilmington. Organizer Chad Joyner said it’s about ruling out violence, hunger, and other injustices.

“Many different races, creeds and colors coming together to show that we are a community of one, and we can unify as a people to do this,” Joyner said.

Organizers also provided showers, medical care and food for the homeless. The event was held at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater and is the second Stomp the Park event in the Cape Fear.
