Storm leads to sewage spill into Lake Waccamaw

LAKE WACCAMAW, NC (WWAY) — All the rain this weekend led to a sewage spill in Lake Waccamaw.

The Town of Lake Waccamaw gave notice this morning that sewage spilled from a manhole near Dales into the lake and into Cove Canal from a manhole near Lift Station 11.

The town says about 5,000 gallons of sewage spilled.

Clean-up operations are underway.
