Sunset Beach: ‘It is safe to swim’

SUNSET BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Despite Oak Island’s Swim Advisory, Sunset Beach says its water is safe.

In a press release Friday, the town said its water is within state and federal bacteria levels.

“Until notified otherwise, it is safe to play in the water at Sunset Beach”, said Mayor Ron Watts.

According to the release, the beach’s water is tested weekly from April through October.
