Surf City completes emergency beach renourishment project

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — An emergency beach renourishment project involving more than 5,000 cubic yards of sand has been completed.

Beach access 19 and 24 have reopened, according to the Town of Surf City.

The project addresses erosion from back in February when several big storms and high tides hit the town.

The work was finished well ahead of the scheduled May 1st completion date.
