Surf City Fire Department provides update on fire that destroyed home, vehicle, and boat

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — The Surf City Fire Department has completed its preliminary investigation into the structure fire that occurred on October 25, 2025, in the 1700 block of North Shore Drive.

The fire resulted in one home, located at 1715 N. Shore Drive, being a total loss. Two adjacent structures sustained significant fire and water damage, while one additional structure experienced minimal heat exposure damage. One vehicle and one boat were also determined to be total losses.

There were no civilian injuries reported as a result of the incident. Two firefighters who were injured during response efforts have been evaluated, released from medical care, and cleared to return to work.

The preliminary investigation into the incident has been completed. The cause and origin remain under review, and additional investigative resources will be consulted before further findings are released.

The scene remains secured with fire line tape, and all roads in the area are open to traffic. The Surf City Fire Department asks that the public respect private property and avoid entering cordoned off areas. All affected homeowners have been contacted and provided with information on next steps for
recovery.

“I want to thank all of our mutual aid partners for their relentless efforts in controlling this fire and minimizing damage to nearby structures,” said Fire Chief Allen Wilson. “The hard work of these firefighters highlights their dedication and concern for our community. Without these committed men and women, the outcome of this event could have been different.”
