Surf City fire destroys home, injures two firefighters

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — On Saturday, the Town of Surf City was dispatched to the 1700 block of North Shore Drive in response to a structure fire.

The were multiple structures involved and one home was deemed a total loss. Two neighboring homes sustained significant interior and exterior damage while two other homes sustained minor damage according to a press release.

No civilian injuries have been reported but two firefighters sustained injuries while responding. Both are being evaluated but are believed to be minor injuries.

Fire crews remain on the scene to monitor hotspots. They’re also beginning the process of recovery and overhaul.

Multiple units responded including Topsail Beach Fire Department, North Topsail Beach Fire Department, Pender EMS and Fire, Surf City Police Department, Surf City Public Works and others.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
