Surf City Police to give out blue lights to honor law enforcement

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — The Surf City Police Department will be giving out blue lights for residents this week to honor law enforcement for the holidays.

Interim Chief Ron Shanahan said it is called Project Blue Light. For many years, Concerns of Police Survivors has asked law enforcement families and police supporters to put a blue light in their window during the holiday season. The blue light is symbolic to honor those who lost their lives in the line of duty, and to remember those officers who continue to work the streets of our nation every day of the year.

Starting December 1, 2015 Project Blue Light LED Candles will be offered at the Surf City Police Department to Surf City residents as supplies last.
