WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The local Cape Fear Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation announces the launch of its Surfboard Recycling Project: an initiative to keep broken and worn-out surfboards out of landfills.

The Cape Fear Surfrider chapter has partnered with local surf shops, South End Surf Shop in Wrightsville Beach and 50 South Surf Shop in Topsail Island to serve as surfboard collection partners. Anyone interested in contributing their old, unusable surfboards (including broken boards and foam boards) can drop off their board at participating shops during regular business hours.

“Our goal is simple,” says Jessica Clark, Chair of the Cape Fear Surfrider chapter. “Keeping surfboards out of landfills, while also partnering with local artists who share our passion for taking care of our ocean and beaches.”
