Suspect wanted after crash involving stolen vehicle in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington police are searching for the suspect who ran off after crash involving a stolen vehicle.

It happened Monday morning just before 3:00 a.m.

Police say when they stopped a stolen vehicle in the 1200 block of Market Street, the driver jumped into the backseat and a passenger then took control and drove off.

Police spotted the vehicle a short time later coming off of One Tree Hill Way onto the MLK Parkway. Police began chasing the vehicle before it eventually crashed into the median on Kerr Avenue. The suspect then jumped out of the vehicle and ran off.

One female juvenile was detained at the scene.
