Customer taken to hospital after SUV crashes into Panda Express

IWLMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police say an elderly man drove into the side of the Panda Express in Wilmington Thursday.

The 78-year-old driver was parking on the side of the restaurant when his foot slipped off the brake and hit the gas pedal, according to police.

Police say the SUV slammed into the side of the building causing the drink fountain inside to fall over on a customer.

She was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The restaurant, located on Van Campen Blvd, opened in December.
