WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — After more than 30 years in business, a popular Wilmington restaurant closed suddenly following a Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

Sweet n Savory, located at 1611 Pavilion Place, offered breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as baked goods.

According to court documents, Sweet n Savory, or SNS OG, LLC filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on October 22, 2024.

Court records indicate that SNS OG, LLC had outstanding tax liabilities, including $500,000 owed to the IRS and $150,000 to the North Carolina Department of Revenue. The IRS later filed a claim asserting SNS owed over $744,000 in unpaid taxes, penalties, and interest dating back to 2022.

However, on January 31, the U.S. Bankruptcy Administrator for the Eastern District of North Carolina filed an emergency motion to convert the case to Chapter 7, citing SNS’s failure to allocate sufficient funds in January to cover payroll and sales and use tax obligations.

The court expedited a hearing for February 6,  after the IRS filed a response supporting the motion. SNS OG, LLC did not file a response to the motion, and the court granted the request, directing the company to cease operations immediately.

A trustee will now be appointed to oversee the liquidation of assets.
