Sweet tooths unite at Chocolate Festival

Get ready to indulge your sweet tooth. The 8th Annual Wilmington Chocolate Festival is coming up.

It’s a chocolate extravaganza. You can taste everything from fudge and bonbons to truffles and chocolate covered peanuts. And in case you need a break from the chocolate, there are a couple of items that aren’t so sweet. There’s also a boutique featuring many hand-crafted items. The festival is the New Hanover County Senior Center’s primary fundraiser.

“It benefits programs such as Meals on Wheels, foster grandparent program, the family caregiver respite grant,” Marianna Stacy, one of the event’s organizers, said. “It actually started about eight years ago when funding was low from the county, very much like the year we’re currently in.”

The Chocolate Festival is February 5-7 at the New Hanover County Senior Center. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.
