Sweetwater Surf Shop, Island Passage coming to Proximity at Carolina Beach

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Two well-known local businesses are preparing to expand to Pleasure Island.

According to the Proximity Carolina Beach website, Sweetwater, a longtime staple of Wrightsville Beach’s surf scene, is set to open a new location in the Proximity development at Carolina Beach. The popular surf shop, owned by the family of professional surfer Ben Bourgeois, has been open since 1976.

Joining Sweetwater at Proximity is Island Passage, a boutique with existing locations in downtown Wilmington, near Wrightsville Beach, and on Bald Head Island.

These two additions join a growing lineup at Proximity, which will also welcome K38, Boombalatti’s, Drift Coffee and Kitchen, Riko’s Pizza and Axis Fitness.
