Tabor City police search for fugitive, urge residents to secure homes

TABOR CITY, N.C. (WWAY) — Police in Tabor City are searching for a fugitive wanted on multiple felony charges and are urging nearby residents to take precautions.
The Tabor City Police Department, working with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, said Christopher O’Neil Strickland is wanted on multiple felony warrants, including assault on a law enforcement officer. Authorities say he should be considered dangerous.
Officials advised residents who live on or near Stake Road to secure their windows and limit unnecessary travel while the search is ongoing.
Authorities say the search will resume Monday morning and are encouraging residents to continue to lock homes, vehicles and outbuildings.
