Teacher gets robots to teach first graders about technology

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — First grade students at Carolina Beach Elementary received four robots to use during class. Peter Hunt started a fundraiser after being inspired at a conference recently focused on using technology to enhance the lives of students.

Hunt raised more than $900 to make it possible. He plans to use the robots by teaching code to his students.

The school got its first set of iPads in 2011. Since then, teachers have integrated Ipads into their lesson plans. Now, the kids will learn how to code robots using applications on their tablets.

He says this is a great opportunity to teach these kids a skill that will be useful for their futures.
