Teacher of the Week: Mark Simmons

CHADBOURN, NC (WWAY) — Mark Simmons has spent more than 25 years teaching, inspiring and being a part of his students lives.  His daughter says he is the most inspiring man she knows!

“I know how hard he works,” Jillian Simmons says, “and he’s always worried about the kids passing the EOG and about how they’ll do.  He’s constantly wondering if they know he’s there for them not only as a teacher, but as someone they can talk to.”

Mr. Simmons is more to the point.  “I enjoy teaching,” he says, “I love the kids and I want them to all be successful.”

He is now a teacher at Chadbourn Middle School in Columbus County.

After more than two decades in front of the class he says he still has a lot to give.  “I want them to appreciate what I have done for them,” he says, “and when they grow up I want to see that they’re successful, whatever they want to do.”

As the WWAY Michael and Son Teacher of the Week Mr. Simmons says of his students:  “they all deserve to go as far as they want in this world.”
