Teachers talk about educating in the digital world
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — At UNCW today, teachers, principals, and school administrators met to talk about new ways to incorporate technology into their classrooms.
The event was put on by Discovery Education. It focused on connecting with students of all ages in the rapidly evolving digital world.
Karen Beerer, with Discovery Education, said one of the biggest challenges facing teachers is that their students are digital natives. For most students, things like Twitter and blogging are almost second nature, but that is not something most teachers used when they were in school.
“Business leaders said we want students who can use technology efficiently to communicate,” said Beerer.
She said the goal of today was to provide teachers with ideas that they could take back to their classrooms and immediately implement.
