Team of the Week – Laney Buccaneers

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The football squad at Laney High is this week’s WWAY Farm Bureau Insurance at Mayfaire Team of the Week recipient. Laney is currently 3-0 in league play in the Mideastern Conference with recent victories over West Brunswick, South Brunswick and Topsail.

Last Friday, Laney beat Topsail 41 to 21. It was an impressive win. Better yet, it marked the third victory in a row for the Buccaneers and first year head coach Ashaad Yeoman. “Winning is contagious,” Yeoman told WWAY. “The kids are getting more confident as the weeks have gone by. They’ve bought into the process of what goes into preparation. As you can see the fruits of their labor have paid off.”
