Techmoja Theatre brings Ntozake Shange’s For Colored Girls to Thalian Hall

Wilmington, NC (WWAY) — Director Kevin Lee-Y Green from Techmoja Theatre and cast member Ricki Nelson sat down with Tomika Jackson to discuss Ntozake Shange’s For Colored Girls.

The work is choreopoem that features seven unnamed Black women, identified by the colors they wear, as they share interconnected stories of survival, trauma, and empowerment.

Through a blend of poetry, dance, and music, it functions as a collective narrative of a community of women, fostering solidarity and emphasizing the importance of their voices and journeys toward healing.

The show runs at Thalian Hall Friday through Sunday with performances at 7:30 p.m. See the full interview above.
