Driver charged with DWI, teen airlifted to NHRMC after being hit by a car
SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — Southport Police say a teenager was airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center after being hit by a car Saturday night.
Officials say the teen was run over on West Moore St. around 10:30 p.m. The driver of the vehicle was Joseph Smith, 23. Smith was charged with DWI and serious injury by motor vehicle.
Police said the teen was transported to Dosher Memorial Hospital and then airlifted to NHRMC.
Smith’s bond is set at $20,000.
