Teen charged in Leland stabbing
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Leland Police say a 19-year-old is facing charges in connection with a stabbing.
Officers said they responded to a call just before 7:30 p.m. on Willetts Lane. They said a person told officers he was stabbed in the stomach by Andrew James Willetts, 19. Willetts is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He was booked in the Brunswick County Jail on a $30,000 bond.
Police say the male victim, Anthony Buchmyer, was treated and released from the hospital. There’s no word on the motive or circumstances surrounding the incident. According to the arrest warrant, the weapon was a folding knife with an approximate three-inch blade.
