Teen charged with murder in North Carolina wants to graduate

DANBURY, NC (AP) — A teen who’s free on bond on a murder charge wants to graduate with his high school class.

WFMY-TV reported that 18-year-old Blaine Camp is asking the Stokes County School Board to allow him to participate in the graduation ceremonies June 10.

Camp and four other people are charged with first-degree murder in the Dec. 26 shooting death of Lopez Dalton outside a Rockingham County restaurant.

Camp says he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was released on bond in February.

Several days later, he was told he could not play sports or attend the prom or graduation.

He says he would wear handcuffs if that would make people feel safer.

His mom met with the school board this week and they’re considering the request.
