Teen sentenced for Wilmington break-ins
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – A Wilmington teen will spend nearly 4 years in prison for breaking into homes.
A New Hanover County jury found Deandre Blu Tilghman guilty of two counts of felony breaking and entering and two counts of felony larceny for breaking into homes on Lullwater Drive and Camden Circle in March of 2015.
The jury also convicted Tilghman of possessing a firearm while being a felon.
Judge W. Allen Cobb, Jr. sentenced Tilghman to a minimum of 46 months in prison.
At the time of the break ins, Tilghman was a wearing a GPS monitoring device on his ankle and officers were able to place him at the homes during the times of the break ins. Tilghman had only been out of prison for two weeks and was on post release supervision from prior breaking and entering convictions when he committed these crimes.
