Teen pleads guilty in fellow gang member’s murder
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington teen is headed to prison after pleading guilty to charges in connection with a fellow gang member’s shooting death.
Raequan Rouse was in the neck in January of 2014 while trying to shoot rival gang members with Torrance Burns, 19. The pair, along with two others, went to a rival gang members’ house in the 600 block of N. 10th Street. The group shot at the occupied home at least 20 times, according to ShotSpotter reports. As they were leaving, Rouse was shot in the neck. He was dropped off at New Hanover Regional Medical Center where he died.
The two others involved, Adron Whitted and Dominique Gibbs, were also charged. Gibbs has already pleaded guilty to charges, and she is in prison. Whitted is scheduled to be in court on November 9.
Burns pleaded guilty to charges including attempted first degree murder and voluntary manslaughter. He’ll spend between 10 and almost 14 years in prison.
