Teenager charged with more than a dozen firearm charges following Henry Street shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A teenager has been charged with numerous firearm charges following a shooting on Henry Street.

WPD responded to a ShotSpotter activation around 11:40 p.m. Saturday night in the 400 block of Henry Street.

Officers say they located property damage when they arrived.

Units observed a possible suspect vehicle leaving the scene and a traffic stop was conducted. Two firearms were located inside the vehicle following a search, according to WPD.

The Department has taken out a secure custody order for two juveniles in connection to these crimes.

James Butler, 18, of Wilmington has been charged with eleven counts of Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling, two counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Carrying a Concealed Weapon-Gun, Felony Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Discharge from an Enclosure, and Felony Conspiracy.

Butler is currently being held at the NHCSO Detention Center under a $3,000,000 secured bond.
