NAVASSA, NC (WWAY) — Two intersections in Navassa will be temporarily closed this week for sewer main replacement work, according to utility officials.

The work is being conducted for Brunswick County Utilities in coordination with the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

The intersection of Plum Street and Main Street will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on February 23 and February 24. Crews will replace approximately 57 linear feet of 8-inch sewer main crossing the intersection.

The intersection of Old Mill Road Northeast and Lake Shore Drive will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on February 25, February 26, and February 27. About 80 feet of 10-inch sewer main will be replaced crossing that intersection.

Detour signage will be installed to help guide drivers around the closed intersections during the work periods.

Officials said the closures are necessary to complete utility upgrades and asked drivers to use caution and follow posted detour routes.
