BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Tennessee man was arrested and charged for a murder that happened last year.

According to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, Nicolai Chisala Hubbling, 21, was taken into custody by the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division on May 29th.

Hubbling was charged with the first-degree murder of William Scott Lowry, 81.

Lowery was reported missing in late August 2024, when he was last seen walking down FL McDaniel Road in Ammon near his residence.

The sheriff’s office says they received an anonymous tip stating Nicolai Hubbling had reportedly told several acquaintances about his love of killing animals to dissect, but it wasn’t enough; he wanted more.

Hubbling reportedly stated he had shot and killed William Lowry, who appeared to be hitchhiking just outside of Fayetteville on a rural road in Bladen County, and disposed of his body in an unknown location.

The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division immediately began conducting interviews and following up on multiple leads.

Hubbling had recently been discharged from the military and had relocated back to Tennessee.

Nicolai Hubbling is currently being held with no bond at Wilson County Detention Center awaiting extradition to Bladen County.
