The 2016 Trask Titans; WWAY’s 5th Quarter pre-season preview

ROCKY POINT, NC (WWAY) — This is season number three for Jonathan Taylor at Trask. You know what they say. The third year is the charm. “We have added some pieces both on the team and on the coaching staff,” Trask head coach Jonathan Taylor told WWAY. “This is year three and we have to start making the turn. We got to the corner, now we have to turn the corner.” That may be easier said than done. The Titans only have seven victories over the last five years. “we’ll be much improved. More focused. Much more of a competitive group. We talk all the time about being interested or committed. This is a committed group of young men.”

That’s a necessity when you’re in the Four County Conference. “I think it’s the best conference in the state. Wallace, Clinton, the Bladen County schools it’s tough, it’s a challenge and we like that challenge every week,” per Jonathan Taylor.

Next year the Trask Titans will jump from the 1-A level to the 2-A level. That won’t be piece of cake either.
Trask has 18 seniors on the team this year. That’s a bit more than usual and it’s time for those guys to take charge. “Stephen Jordan will obviously be one. I look for him to do great things this year. Chris Holmes, db and receiver he’ll turn the corner and make some plays. Our quarterback is a junior, Tyrece Armstrong. I think he’s one of the better quarterbacks in the region. Up front we have some good kids. Sean Dennison is coming along and Vance Barnhill.”

Trask will open the 2016 regular season schedule August 19th on the road against Topsail in Hampstead.
