The 2016 West Brunswick Trojans; WWAY’s 5th Quarter Preview

SHALLOTTE, NC (WWAY) — Over the last few years the West Brunswick football team practiced in the morning in early August, but not this year. With that in mind WWAY’s John Rendleman recently stopped by for an evening practice in Shallotte. Megan Hardy has been the athletic trainer at West Brunswick High School for 14 years. Last week she sent a message to student athletes and their parents with a lengthy post on Twitter. “I was nervous about us practicing later in the evening,” Hardy told us. “It was really hot before we started football practice. I didn’t know if it was going to cool off any during the week, so I wanted parents to be aware that their children need to hydrate. I was nervous about the kids being gone all day at work or at the beach and playing out in the sun and not drinking enough water and coming to practice dehydrated.”

So the real message is: drink water, before, during and after practice. As for this this year’s West Brunswick football team, we’ll let head coach Kelly Williamson take provide insight. “We’ve got a lot of kids back on offense and defense. 8 returning on offense, 8 on defense. This team is a little stronger than we were last year and hopefully we’ll play a little better football on Fridays.”
