The Cape Fear Chapters: Brunswick County author Nancy MacCreery discusses her latest books

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Cape Fear Chapters is a new segment on WWAY, featuring local authors and writers across the Cape Fear region.

On Monday, Brunswick County author Nancy MacCreery spoke with WWAY’s Tomika Jackson about her two most recent books.

Head Over Heels: Footprints of Love is a romantic comedy with scenes set in North Carolina and Virginia Beach.

“Liza, the main character, was a minor character in one of my other books, and I left her in kind of a bad place,” MacCreery said. “She had just found out her husband wasn’t quite the man she thought he was.”

“My husband and I were actually visiting Virginia Beach and we had a chance to witness this wedding. It was a very unusual wedding, and I just looked at it and thought here we go. It’s going to be a fake date and it’s going to have a beach wedding in it and she’ll turn out happy,” MacCreery said.

With the recent popularity of Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” Jackson also spoke with MacCreery about Andromache’s Story – What Really Happened in Troy. It’s inspired by the classic Greek tale, but told from a unique perspective.

“It basically takes the Trojan War and retells it from Andromache’s point of view,” MacCreery shared. “She is the wife of Hector who is their main champion.”

“Through her eyes you see the softer side of some of the warriors,” MacCreery added.
