‘The First Tee’ looks for permanent home at Municipal Golf Course

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The First Tee youth golf program made a presentation before Wilmington City Council today hoping to find support to get a permanent home over at the Municipal Golf Course.

According to the presenters, the program has been in Wilmington before but has fallen on some hard times. They are trying to restart it with the support of the community. The First Tee tries to keep kids off the streets by teaching them golf skills.

Presenters said the upcoming PGA tournament in 2017 will provide an excellent opportunity to raise the funds needed to nail down a location. The proposed location is to the right of the 9th hole.

Council’s only concern was that the program get into all the schools to reach as many kids as possible.
