The NAACP hosts MLK Breakfast event at the Wilmington Convention Center

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– At the Wilmington Convention Center, over fifty people united for the annual Martin Luther king Jr Breakfast Event, hosted by the New Hanover County Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Many people joined the gathering to hear speeches, give awards, sing, take photos, and enjoy a warm breakfast.

With the theme being “The Fierce Urgency of Now: Igniting the Future”, LeRon Montgomery, the President of the NAACP in New Hanover County, says the breakfast gathering is not only to remember Dr. King, but to also honor him by coming together in one room.

“We hope that this reminds everyone for what he stood for, and what we should strive for. We should all come together and be one. No matter what our background, or our political differences, we all should be unified and love one another,” said Montgomery.

The next MLK breakfast has already been announced for January 16th, 2027.
