The Wilmington Police Department’s annual ‘Santa Cop’ operation takes place this week

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Police Department announced their annual ‘Santa Cop’ operation will take place on Friday.

The event will start at 8:45 a.m. at the Walmart on Sigmon Road in Wilmington.

At the event, officers and civilians will be paired up with a child and given a gift card. They’ll use the gift card for a one-time shopping spree to spread holiday cheer.

Santa Cop has been in existence since 1990 at the WPD.
