This rescue wants your Christmas trees for animals to enjoy after the holidays

CASTLE HAYNE (WWAY) — Recently, we told you how you can recycle your Christmas tree in New Hanover County. Now, here’s another way to get rid of that tree, for a good cause.
SkyWatch Bird Rescue in Castle Hayne wants your Christmas trees.
The rescue explained that the trees offer enrichment for a variety of their resident animals.
Birds – big and small – enjoy roosting and foraging in a real tree, tortoises use them as scratching posts, and even pigs enjoy pulling trees into their pens to play with them.
After the trees dry out, the rescue will use them for fertilizer for plants around the property.
If your tree is still green with no brown or shedding, you can drop it off anytime at the rescue at 3600 Lynn Ave.
Trees can be left by the rescue’s driveway gate or along the parking lot fence.
