Three injured in multi-vehicle crash in Leland

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) —  Three people have been taken to the hospital following a four-vehicle crash in Leland.

According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, three vehicles were traveling south on River Road, near Crofters Court just after 4:30pm on Wednesday.

Two of the vehicles were stopped, as the vehicle in front was waiting to turn onto Crofters Court. The third vehicle failed to stop and ran into the back of the second vehicle.

That impact knocked the first vehicle into the northbound lane of River Road, where it collided head-on with the fourth vehicle, which was traveling north on River Road.

Three of the four drivers were taken to the hospital with various injuries, but NCHP says none of the injuries are life-threatening. The remaining driver was not hurt.

The driver of the third vehicle, the one who caused the initial crash, was charged with Careless and Reckless Driving.

The NCHP says the driver of the fourth vehicle was not at fault in the crash, but was charged with impaired driving and driving a without a seatbelt.
