Three injured in two Wilmington stabbings early Easter morning

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Three people were injured in two separate stabbings early Easter morning in downtown Wilmington, according to the Wilmington Police Department.

Wilmington police said in a news release, “At approximately 2:10 a.m., officers responded to a large fight in the 100 block of N. Front Street. Upon arrival, officers located two adult males suffering from stab wounds. Both males were transported to Novant NHRMC with serious injuries.

Approximately two minutes later, officers responded to a second, unrelated fight in the 0 block of N. Front Street, where they located an adult female suffering from stab wounds. She was also transported to Novant NHRMC with life-threatening injuries.”

Police said the two incidents are not believed to be connected. The investigation remains ongoing.

The stabbings come less than a month after a separate downtown shooting that raised safety concerns among residents and business owners.

Tom Harris, partial owner of Front Street Brewery, said the timing of the incidents plays a key role in how they are perceived.

“It would have been shocking if it had occurred during the day. This is time-specific stuff; it’s the same old story of the bars let out at 2 am, and then these crimes occur shortly after the bars let out,” said Harris.
