Tidal flooding causes road closures in downtown Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Sections of Water Street and Front Street were closed in Wilmington on Monday due to flooding.

High tide caused the Cape Fear River to rise several inches which flooded some portions of the roads.

Barricades are up along a portion of Front Street near the intersection of Carolina Beach Road and Burnett Boulevard. There are also barricades up in front of the Hilton Riverside on Water Street.

A spokesperson for the Hilton Riverside said guests are being asked to park in a nearby parking deck at this time.
