Tillis draws foreign policy focus in NC Senate ad

RALEIGH, NC (AP) — U.S. Senate candidate Thom Tillis is continuing to try to shift the emphasis in his race against Democratic incumbent Kay Hagan to foreign policy in a new television commercial.

Tillis began running the ad Monday that accuses her of being inattentive to the threat posed by Islamic State militants. The commercial running statewide also continues to try to link Hagan with President Barack Obama, blaming her for enabling what he considers the president’s response to emerging Middle East dangers.

Hagan’s campaign says she’s the one that’s been decisive on the issue and voted to equip and train moderate Syrian rebels.

Hagan and her fellow Democratic allies have hammered Tillis with several commercials blaming him for what they label public school spending cuts while he’s served as state House speaker.
